Mid-season Review: The Coqui League

This league is my favorite because I created it from scratch, designing the format, settings, platform, and even selecting the managers. Itās a 12-man PPR league with one QB, three WR, two RB, one TE, one Flex (W/R/T), one Defense, and no Kicker, plus five bench spots and two IR spots. This season, my 2nd-round pick, Isiah Pacheco, suffered a season-ending injury, which has added to a storyline of inconsistency and opponents overachieving. Iām currently 5-2 and in 3rd placeāa rarity, as my previous seasons were marked by major injuries and lack of wins.
One of the things I love most about this league is our active chat. We talk about more than just stats and players; weāve built a real sense of community. The leagueās activity level is also high, with 16 trades already completed. This engagement keeps the league exciting and dynamic.
When Pacheco went down, I was fortunate enough to pick up both Kareem Hunt and Samaje Perine. Hunt has helped offset the loss of Pacheco, and my favorite game this season came in Week 5, where my team came together to score a huge 181-point victory. Iām hoping for more games like that in the future.
Team Drafted:

Defense: Browns

Current Record & Standings:
5-2, #3 of 12
Standout Performer:
My standout performer has to be James Conner, not only for his consistency but also for his availabilityāa trait heās not usually known for.
Biggest Disappointment:
The biggest disappointment is Tee Higgins. I have to admit, Iām a glutton for punishment here; heās just like Jaylen Waddle, always getting banged up. Higginsā unwillingness to play through minor injuries (understandable, given heās on a franchise tag) unfortunately leads to inconsistency and lack of availability.
Biggest Fantasy Disappointment:
My biggest disappointment this season has been Evan Engram. How do you hurt yourself so badly in warm-ups that you miss four weeks? Enough said.
Trades:
Iāve made only one trade in this league, trading away Isaiah Pacheco for Gus Edwards. It wasnāt a great trade or a terrible one, but Gus Edwards has since fallen off my team due to lack of usage and the rise of RB Vidal.
Second Half Strategy:
To be brutally honest, Iām pretty satisfied with my team. I feel that Iām weak at wide receiver but strong at every other position. My goal is to make solid waiver wire pickups and make smart start/sit decisions to keep myself in a top playoff spot. This week, I have a David and Goliath matchup as the 3rd-ranked manager facing the 11th-place manager. Letās see if I can keep stacking up wins.
