Football field and stadium at the 50 yard line

The Heart of Champions League has been my introduction to the standard format, where hunting for touchdowns is the name of the game. Itā€™s a 12-man Standard league with one QB, two WR, two RB, one TE, one Flex (W/R/T), one SuperFlex (QB/W/R/T), one IDP (Individual Defensive Player), one Defense, and one Kicker, plus 7 bench spots and no IR slot. I started this league two years ago, and Iā€™m finally starting to get the hang of it. This season, however, the league decided to shake things up by adding a Superflex right before the draft. Naturally, this threw everyone for a loop, but I came prepared with tools from TheFantasyFlyer.com. Using their two-QB rankings and ADP tool, I felt confident and made value picks.

The only thing I feel this league lacks is a more active chat. Thereā€™s no reason why managers shouldnā€™t be discussing trades, waivers, and big events in the fantasy football world. Overall, I do enjoy the league, but I wish the managers would interact more. Theyā€™re intelligent, have great character, and Iā€™d love to get to know them better outside of just the draft.

Currently, Iā€™m happy to be in the middle of the pack. Just as I was getting comfortable with the standard format, they added the Superflex, so I donā€™t mind being patient. That said, it puts me in a good position to make a playoff push. Iā€™ve had some interesting matchups so far, and Iā€™m coming off an impressive win against the manager who originally brought me into the league. I hope to carry this momentum into my next matchup against the 12th-ranked manager and the league commissioner.

Current Record & Standings:

4-3, #7 of 12

Standout Performer:

My standout performer in this league has to be Drake London. Although he had a slow start, heā€™s been the most consistent contributor. Thanks to London, alongside the reliable scoring from Jalen Hurts and Kyler Murray, Iā€™ve been able to rack up a solid points base each week.

Biggest Disappointment:

Zamir White has been the biggest disappointment. After a promising 2023 season that made him look like a potential lead back, his start to this season has shown that it was just a mirage.

Biggest Fantasy Disappointment:

Tee Higgins' health and contract situation have been the biggest disappointments for this roster. I understand his cautionā€”if I were on a franchise tag, Iā€™d be careful with even minor injuries too. Unfortunately, this approach isnā€™t helping his fantasy consistency. When he plays, he averages around 16 points, but with every minor injury, he sits out. Thatā€™s not ideal for a fantasy manager looking for reliability.

Trades:

I havenā€™t completed any trades in this league. Honestly, itā€™s difficult to value pieces when quarterbacks are involved, and trades tend to be lopsided.

Second Half Strategy:

My start/sit decisions in this league can be tricky because there are bonuses for certain plays, but no points for receptions. Iā€™m relying heavily on yardage and touchdown props each week to guide my decisions. This is a new strategy for me, but I hope it makes me more efficient. This is also my first time in serious playoff contention in this league. Wish me luck as I try to keep this hot streak and strong points total going!
